SHOCKED Halesowen College students were involved in a crash when the coach they were travelling home in was involved in a collision in Bromsgrove.

A man in his 60s had to be taken to hospital after his car collided with the coach on Wednesday (May 3).

The driver of the car was taken to the Alexandra Hospital after his Citroen collided with a Prospect coach near The Forest Harvester pub on the Birmingham Road at around 5.20pm.

The coach was carrying a group of teenagers on their way home from Halesowen College, including A-level student Hannah Owen, who expressed her shock at the crash.

Ms Owen, 17, said: “I didn't know what was happening as I was asleep on the coach and woken up by it.

“The coach driver was fine. I was the second person to get off the coach and I went to stop the traffic so I could go and see if the man in the car was okay.

"I was relieved to see he was."

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a senior paramedic officer to treat the man and assess the driver of the coach and the students on board.

A spokesman added: “We treated a driver, a man in his 60s, who managed to get out of the car himself but had suffered hand and neck injuries.

“He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital for further treatment. There were a number of people assessed on the coach but nobody needed treatment.”

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Police were called on Wednesday, May 3 to reports of a collision involving a grey Citroen C1 saloon car and a bus.

"Officers and ambulance service attended and a man was taken to hospital for treatment to hand and facial injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 574s of May 3."
