BLACK Country running legend Blind Dave Heeley is inviting families to lace up their running shoes for a new charity event.

The dedicated fundraiser has organised The Colour Run, which will take place at Sandwell Valley Country Park on Saturday July 22 in partnership with the Shape Sandwell Youth Festival.

Registration will open at 11am with the warm up for the race starting at 12:30 prompt and the 5k race itself starting at 1pm.

The fun run is an untimed race that will see participants doused from head to toe in different colours along the route.

Proceeds from the run will go to The Albion Foundation, which is the charity associated with Dave’s beloved favourite football club.

A spokesman for the event said: “This will be a great day for the entire family to get involved in, and come rain or shine the Colour Fun Run will be taking place.

“So make it a day out and have friends and families all enjoy the day’s festivities which will feature fun fairs, arts and crafts activities, multi-sports, music and plenty more during the summer holidays.”
