SCOUTS and guides from Romsley are joining forces this weekend to organise an afternoon tea for villagers as part of a national event.

Over 100,000 events are being organised throughout the UK this weekend for the Great Get Together, inspired by the memory of Jo Cox MP, who was tragically killed last year.

Communities have been asked to get together and celebrate everything that they have in common.

The afternoon at Romsley Scout Centre, which is based on playing fields in St Kenelm’s Road, is being planned by beavers, cubs, scouts, rainbows, brownies and Guides.

Tea and cake will be served from 2-4pm and villagers are invited to enjoy an informal afternoon and are welcome to bring a picnic if they wish. The event, which is free of charge, is being supported by Romsley Co-op.

Elsewhere, Hasbury Community Association have teamed up with Share Fest 2017 to host a bring and share Afternoon Tea on Saturday, June 17 2017 2-4pm at Hasbury Community Centre.

Everyone is welcome to bring and share food, games and table decorations.

And the GMB Union will be hosting a summer BBQ at their Halesowen offices at Will Thorne House on Birmingham Road on Saturday from 11am to 3pm.

There will be free food, live music and a balloon release for Jo Cox at 12.53pm. For more information, contact GMB on 0121 5504888.
