THOUSANDS of people defied the bad weather and enjoyed singing in the rain at a huge music festival in Romsley.

Romstock 2017 has been hailed as a huge success by organisers after 10 different bands and artists entertained crowds for more than nine hours last weekend.

The sixth annual event saw more than 2,000 revellers attend and enjoying acts such as Paul Shakespeare as ‘Elvis’, Strictly Abba tribute act, Rudi and the Revolvers, Izzy the Push and 17-year-old Hagley singer Felicity Cox.

Festival organiser David Powell said, "This was the 6th Romstock and undoubtedly the best yet.

"We had adequate marquee cover in the event of rain but most people didn't seem to care at all when the heavens opened and if anything it added to the enjoyment.”

He added: "Yet again Romstock has been a happy, joyous family friendly festival and many thanks to all those involved with Romsley parish who have worked so hard to make it happen. Looking forward to next year.”

Band Co ordinator Mark Moran said, "As well as established bands it is great to showcase up and coming new and local talent, and Felicity certainly has a bright future ahead of her.”
