AN afternoon of family fun – with a Victorian steampunk twist – is set to thrill people of all ages at Haden Hill House and Park this weekend.

From noon until 4pm on Sunday (June 25), the Cradley Heath park will offer families live music, with favourites Eureka Jazz playing some classics, while visitors are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the summer sunshine.

The free event will also include children’s entertainment, with magic shows and balloons, craft activities and trails for younger visitors to enjoy, as well as a bouncy castle slide.

Visitors can also look out for a steampunk penny farthing and its rider, as well as enjoying side shows and games and playing croquet on the lawn.

A small steampunk exhibition will also be taking place inside the house.

Councillor Richard Marshall, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for leisure, said: “Sunday’s event is the launch of Haden Hill House’s summer activities and has something for all the family.

“People will find lots of fun entertainment, a fascinating Victorian house and a stunning Green Flag-awarded park.”

Although entrance to the event is free, there will be a small charge for some of the activities. The tearoom will be open for cakes and drinks courtesy of the Friends and volunteers group.
