AFTER being called to reports of a burglary in Halesowen yesterday, police found hundreds of cannabis plants being grown in the property.
Officers responded to a break in at the address in Nimmings Road, Shell Corner, just before 2am on Tuesday (September 12), but they discovered the building contained a cannabis factory.
An estimation of about 500 plants were seized by police, while electricity was also found to have been abstracted in the property.
Three men have since been arrested in connection with the incident, including a 25-year-old man, who remains in custody on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis, and a 23-year-old arrested on suspicion of burglary, who has been released without charge.
Kadeon Whyte, a 30-year-old car valeter from St Chads Road in Bilston, has been charged with possession of cannabis and bailed to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court on September 28.
Following the incident, Halesowen North councillor Stuart Henley said: “It is good to hear that the police successfully made arrests and shut down a cannabis factory in the area.
“This was down to the public passing on important information so they could build a picture to be able to carry it out.
“I urge anyone that has information of any possible crime to take down as much information as possible and pass it on to the local police via 101/999 or email.
“Help the police gain information to make the area safe for all.”
