THE Wabash Jazzmen are returning to Halesowen to perform their own brand of jazz in the town.

The popular, lively five piece band from Cheshire was formed in 1994 and have been touring the clubs of Britain ever since.

They will be playing at Halesowen Cricket Club on Sunday, September 24, with the concert signalling the start of the autumn and winter season of Sunday night traditional jazz sessions.

Trevor Jones, organiser of the jazz club, said: “We start when the cricket season ends in September and end when the cricket season restarts in April.

“The original idea was to help the cricket club keep ticking over during the winter months, although it has grown so much that it has now become a regular season for many of the local jazz fans.

"For the first session we welcome back the ever popular Wabash Jazzmen.

"Lead by Banjoist Mark Challinor, the 'Wabash' have a very lively, foot tapping New Orleans style repertoire - ideal for dancing but equally enjoyable for simply sitting back and listening. ”

The evening runs from 8pm until 10.30pm and admission on the door costs £5.
