A HALESOWEN opticians raised £150 for Macmillan Cancer Support when they held a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning last week.

Staff at the Cornbow centre-based Specsavers store treated the local community to a bake sale and tombola to raise the funds while the opticians came together with local businesses who donated several prizes for the charity tombola – Chloe Hudson won a pair of Osiris sunspecs worth £125.

Other prizes included free lens treatments, chocolates donated by Thornton’s and free drinks donated by the local coffee shop Coffee Worx. The Works also gave goodies for the tombola and Savers donated a bottle of wine.

Shahid Parvez, store director, said: “We were delighted to take part in this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – it was a fantastic day and we all had lots of fun.

“Many of the staff are keen bakers too, so the bake sale prompted a touch of healthy rivalry in the team.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped us raise funds for Macmillan’s continued fight against cancer.

“A special thanks to those who donated prizes, bought baked goods and took part in the charity tombola.”
