GRANGE Hill has reopened this morning (Wednesday, October 11) following work to fix a burst water main.

Hundreds of homes were left without water for almost 24 hours after the burst last Thursday evening.

South Staffs Water were working throughout the weekend to fix the main, which left 800 customers around the Hunnington and Romsley areas waterless.

The supply was finally restored at 7.30pm on Friday evening.

Following the discovery of the burst main, Dudley Council closed Grange Hill – between its junctions with Manor Way and Illey Lane – from Friday morning until 6am this morning, when it was reopened following the completion of the repairs.

A spokesman for South Staffs Water apologised for the inconvenience which was caused during the closure, thanking residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while it was fixed.
