BUILDING work at an Oldbury school is on track and expected to be fully completed by September 2019.

Q3 Academy Langley, which was built on the former Langley High School site in Moat Road, opened its doors to the first pupils in September 2016, but plans to add classrooms to the new school were recently approved and work is continuing on the site.

Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for children's services said: “I recently visited Q3 Academy Langley with my cabinet colleagues and was really impressed with the new school and how the building works are progressing.

“This is the first new school we've built in ten years and is helping us to make sure we have enough secondary school places to meet increased demand.”

Currently the school has nearly 400 students in years seven and eight and will eventually accommodate 1,500 students.

Eric Payne, who sponsors the school, said: “We are delighted to be working with Sandwell Council in the on-going development of the facilities, and teaching and learning spaces at Q3 Langley.

“This will provide great opportunity for aspiration and achievement for the young people of Sandwell."
