STUDENTS have been celebrating their success at a special Halesowen College graduation ceremony.

Awards were handed out for a range of higher education courses, while Georgia Smith picked up the honour of ‘Apprentice of the Year’.

Georgia (pictured below), who studied a HNC in applied biology and an apprenticeship in laboratory and associate technical activities, was given a vase to mark her achievement during the ceremony.

Guests were welcomed to the ceremony by David Williams, who took over as principal at the college in July, before the awards were presented by Professor Scott Davidson, vice-chancellor of Newman University Birmingham.

Mr Williams said: “It was a real honour to meet all our graduates and help them celebrate their success.

“This was the first year we had an Apprentice of the Year award due to the growth in this area of the college.

“Congratulations to everyone involved and I wish everyone well in their future careers.”

The college runs a range of higher education courses in partnership with the University of Worcester, Newman University and Pearson, including engineering, animal management, graphics, web design, sport and counselling.
