A NEW book delving into the stories behind Cradley’s Second World War armed forces members is set to be released.

Written by local-born author Terry Evans, ‘Some of Cradley’s Finest’ tells the tales of those with connections to the area who lost their lives, as well as those who survived the conflict.

The effects of the war on life in the area and on the men, women and children who remained on the home front is also covered.

The book has been published by Midland Film And Art community group members, which is based in Cradley.

Val Bloomer, of Midland Film And Art, said: “Terry wrote this – his second book – so that their exploits and the sacrifices they made will be remembered.

“His intention has always been that, along with his first book on World War One, this new work will serve as a memorial to ‘Some of Cradley’s Finest’.”

The book, which will be distributed by the Cradley Then and Now history group, is being launched at Cradley Library, from 11am until 1pm on Saturday, March 3.
