HUNDREDS of jobs and apprenticeships are up for grabs at an event taking place in Oldbury this week.

Anyone in the borough who are looking for jobs, interested in an apprenticeship or up for a career change should head to Sandwell Council House on Friday (March 9).

Posts up for grabs include apprenticeships with the local authority in a range of roles – from entry to degree level – plus the council is recruiting about 50 full-time, permanent home support assistants.

Advisors will be on-hand at the event, which marks the end of National Apprenticeship Week 2018, to offer practical advice on applying for apprenticeships and jobs, help with finding training and specialist support for people with disabilities looking for work.

Visitors can also chat with council apprentices who will be able to talk about their experiences.

Councillor Paul Moore, cabinet member for regeneration and economic investment, said: “The council does an incredible amount of work with people of all ages to help them find a job.

“Over the past five years we’ve helped more than 1,000 people to find an apprenticeship or a job with the council or a local company and we’re hoping this event will help us reach even more.”

The drop in event, which will be held in the main council chamber in Freeth Street, runs from 2pm until 6pm, and is open to people of all ages.
