CAT-LOVERS who want a new challenge are being offered the chance to volunteer with a Halesowen feline welfare charity.

Cats Protection require volunteers at the local branch in areas ranging from cat fostering to community driving.

The Halesowen and district branch also needs a branch team leader, volunteer fosterers, fundraisers, as well as volunteers to help with their trap, neuter, return (TNR) scheme and drivers.

Helen Parkes, Cats Protection’s regional development manager for the Midlands, said: “All these roles are vital to the successful running of the branch.

“Between them they enable our messages about the importance of neutering to be widely promoted; provide a welcoming and stimulating space for cats when they arrive in our care as well as safely transporting them to and from everywhere they need to be while they are awaiting their forever homes.

“These can be incredibly rewarding roles. Becoming a volunteer for Cats Protection is a great way to meet new friends – both human and feline.”

The Halesowen branch is part of the charity’s nationwide network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 34 centres and over 100 charity shops that together help around 190,000 cats and kittens each year.

Maureen Lomas, branch treasurer added: “Volunteering for Cats Protection is a fun and rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would benefit the charity or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge.

“Our volunteers gain a great deal of satisfaction helping cats get a second chance in life. We work hard to match people’s skills, interests and time availability to the roles on offer.”
