SANDWELL Council delivered no surprises in the 2018 local election as Labour tightened their grip on the authority.
A total of 26 seats were up for grabs on polling day (May 3) and Labour held 24 while making gains from independent candidates in two others.
Labour also took control of two vacant seats, the results mean Labour holds 70 seats on Sandwell Council and is opposed only by two independent councillors.
