A HALESOWEN Accountancy firm is collecting food and toiletries to help disadvantaged people and families in need during the summer holidays.

Nicklin LLP, which is based in Church Court, Stourbridge Road, has opened its office doors for people to drop off donations that will be donated to the Black Country Foodbank.

As part of the summer collection, the company is asking its employees, clients and local residents to drop off any non-perishable foods and toiletries the charity urgently requires – during office hours – by Friday, June 29.

Items sought by the foodbank include squash, UHT milk, small jars of coffee, tinned spaghetti, breakfast cereal, rice and crisps, as well as shower gel, small boxes of washing powder, bubble bath and can openers.

The firm is also keen to collect little treats for the children of the area, such as chocolate, sweets and crisps.

Chris Cook, a partner at Nicklin LLP, said: “Black Country Foodbank is a lifeline for local families. As a firm, we believe that we have a corporate and social responsibility to support the local community.

“Children and families should never have to go hungry and at this time of year it can be even more difficult, when children who normally receive a free school meal are off for the summer holidays. This puts additional pressure on parents to feed their children.

“We are asking our employees, clients and members of the public to use our offices as a drop off point where they can leave items, they wish to donate.

“To someone doing the weekly shop, it can mean as little as a couple of extra tins. To someone in crisis, it is an enormous help.”
