A CAMPAIGN to encourage more employees to take up sign language as an extra language and skill is coming to Halesowen next month. (July)

Signs4Life UK is setting up introductory employee in-house courses to help people communicate and deal with the deaf community

“You never know when you will come into contact with a customer or member of the public who is deaf or hard of hearing.

“British Sign Language is the first language of 95,000 deaf people in the UK and we are working with organisations as varied as care homes, victim support, police forces, The Red Cross and Asda. Just learning a small amount of signing will help you comply with the Disability Discrimination Act, “ said Signs4Life UK founder Sara Phillips.

For more information on the courses, which run for a minimum of six weeks, contact Sara on 07964 019 764.
