FOUR ferrets found wandering the streets of Halesowen have been rescued by the RSPCA.

The animal charity was called by members of the public who had spotted the ferrets in Cheviot Way, Campion Grove and Hambleton Road over two days earlier this month.

RSPCA animal collection officer Sally Tarpey collected the ferrets.

Sally said: "I must thank the locals who spotted the ferrets and contained the animals in order for us to collect them.

"We received four separate calls about the ferrets. Three calls came in the one day and I thought I had got them all, then another call came in.

"So that is four ferrets in total I have collected.

"There may be more on the loose we don't know.

"I would ask anyone with information about where the ferrets are from to please contact me.

"It could be they have escaped and if this is the case their rightful owner will be able to identify the animals I have picked up."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA national cruelty and advice line on 0300 1234 999 and leave a message for Sally Tarpey.
