A Halesowen businesswoman is celebrating after receiving an award recognising the success of her new venture.
Debbie Blackburn, from Halesowen, set up business as a LighterLife weight management counsellor last year, after being made redundant from a her role as an account manager for a global communications company.
Despite the economic downturn, Debbie has seen her business go from strength to strength, which was recognised by LighterLife when she was named top new counsellor in her sales league.
Debbie was presented with her award at the LighterLife Annual Conference at the Sofitel Hotel in London.
Debbie said: “I am so pleased to have won this award as I have only been trading for a year.
"It has been a challenge setting up a new business with the economy still shaky, but I am pleased to say it has been a success.
“It is really exciting to have beaten 35 other LighterLife counsellors who have also come on board during the last year and to get recognition from central office.”
