Olbury College of Sport is hosting the national schools Olympic weightlifting championships this Saturday.

The top young weightlifting stars from across the country will be battling out with competitors from Sandwell and Halesowen.

College spokesman Sam Hayer said: "One of the highlights of the day will be the appearance of Zoe Smith, who is the reigning Commonwealth Youth Games gold medallist.

"Zoe is tipped to be a gold medal winner in this year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in India. She is also the reigning British Olympic Athletics junior athlete of the year."

"Members of the public are welcome to attend the event which is free admission."

It starts at 10am and runs until 6pm and will be attended by Sandwell's Deputy Mayor Councillor Joy Edis and Warley MP John Spellar at 12 midday.
