MIND readers, Charleston dancers and a barbershop quartet will feature in a patriotic show at Oldbury Rep to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Barlow Theatre Company will stage The Story of the good old British Music Hall from 1850 to 1950.

The show, which features songs, sketches, comedy and dance will run at the theatre in Spring Walk, Langley, from July 7 to July 14.

Lisa Smith has written it and will also direct and produce it as well as performing as a soloist.

She said: “It will be a great fun show as it is a celebration of British Variety Theatre going from its birth at the spit and sawdust music hall through the Victorian, Edwardian eras and up to the 1950s when more modern technology made variety theatre and music hall less popular and entertainment started to change with the pop world.

“There will be Charleston dancers, a barbershop quartet a mind reading act and lots of fun and frolicks!”

The audience will be able to sing along to songs including ‘Daisy, Daisy’, ‘There’ll always be an England’ and ‘We’ll Meet Again’.

Tickets, at £8, £8 concessions, can be ordered at the box office on 0121 552 2761 on Monday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm, or any night during the run of the previous play from Saturday May 5 to Saturday May 12.
