Undertaker hubby charged with murdering Blackheath teacher
THE husband of former Blackheath school teacher, Alethea Taylor, has today been charged with her murder.
John Taylor, a 60 year-old undertaker, who runs John Taylor Funeral Services, will appear at Hereford Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
Mrs Taylor, 63, worked at Blackheath Primary School for 40 years. She was last seen at her home address in Orleton at around 8.30am on Thursday, January 19 and reported missing by her husband.
It was suggested she had become forgetful and had taken to wandering.
Despite extensive searches by specialist police officers and many people from the community, she has not been seen since.
Speaking about the latest development, West Mercia Detective Inspector Dave Williams, said: "I can confirm that earlier today a 60-year-old man was charged with the murder of Alethea Taylor.
"He will be appearing at Hereford Magistrates Court in the morning.
"Although this represents a significant step forward in our enquiry, our work on this case will be continuing and we remain keen to speak to anyone who believes they may have information about Alethea's disappearance "Anyone who'd like to speak to police officers about this case is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000."
