Halesowen College students prove they are a cut above the rest

TWO Halesowen College students showed off their snipping skills in an annual student barber competition.

Matt Round and Phillipa Thomas got through to the final 30 and were named as finalists in the competition, organised by the British Barbering Association.

They had to submit photographs of their hair cuts for the initial stage of the contest.

Paula Evans, hair and beauty lecturer at Halesowen College, said: “Matt and Phillipa should be extremely proud, there were over 200 entries and they made it into the final 30.

“They have worked very hard to be finalists and this competition gave them the chance to show off their skills at a national level.”

Matt, aged 18, is a former pupil of Pedmore Technology College and lives in Lye and Phillipa is aged 35 and lives in Stafford.
