A BIG-hearted pharmacist is offering free blood pressure checks in Halesowen as part of a national campaign.

Turners Pharmacy, Manor Lane, will be giving quick tests during the Blood Pressure UK’s Know Your Numbers campaign next week.

Pharmacist Clive Turner is urging the community to get tested after statistics revealed almost half of people from the West Midlands would only consider themselves at risk if they were overweight.

He said: “That is not the only cause. Diet and lifestyle can also have a big impact. Eating too much salt or not taking enough exercise can also cause high blood pressure which is the most common cause of cardiovascular disease.”

The pharmacy will have “pressure points” where visitors can drop-in to be tested, get advice and be handed heart stickers to show they know their blood pressure numbers from Monday to Sunday, September 10 to 16.
