Halesowen dad faces jail

A FATHER, who has never seen his son, could face imprisonment after breaching a restraining order by turning up at his ex-partner’s home and smirking at her through the window.

Warwick Crown Court heard that less than six months earlier Daniel Soldiew, from Halesowen , had been given a suspended prison sentence for an earlier breach of the order.

Soldiew, aged 27, of Clent View Road, pleaded not guilty to two charges of breaching the restraining order in January this year.

The jury cleared him of the first allegation, but found him guilty of the second and a pre-sentence is report is now to be prepared before deciding whether to activate the suspended sentence.

During the trial Soldiew’s former partner Sarah Pitt said they had separated in December 2009 after incidents which had involved the police.

As a result there was a restraining order banning Soldiew, who is the father of her young son, from having any contact with her after he was convicted of harassing her.

On January 12 she heard a car engine being revved outside her home at 11pm and was sure it was Soldiew, who then drove off.

A fortnight later she saw him standing by her fence, smirking.

Miss Pitt said: “I just looked out of the kitchen window and he was just standing there smirking. Then he just carried on up the hill. He just won’t leave me alone - it’s constant. I can’t get on with my life.”

Michael Anning, defending, said Soldiew had never seen his son because they had split up while Miss Pitt was pregnant.
