Halesowen cyclist leads French charity challenge
2:16pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in Local
BIG-hearted cyclist Jon White, from Halesowen , is leading 19 friends on a gruelling 250-mile cycling challenge to raise money for charity.
The group were due to set off today on a three-day trip to pedal from London to Paris in the hope of raising £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They were starting at Tower Bridge en route to Dover where they will catch the Channel ferry to Calais.
Tomorrow they plan to meander their way through North West France and will enter Paris and finish by riding along the Rue Des Champs Elysees on Saturday.
Mr White said: “We will cycle approximately 250 miles over three days which is a very ambitious target for a group of amateur cyclists with no affiliation to any cycling club.”
But the group are far from novices as during the last three years the friends - more than 50 in total - have taken on various endurance cycling events and raised in excess of £50,000 for Macmillan, Anyone wishing to sponsor Mr White can do so at justgiving.com/Jonathan-White8
