We might be fed up with the showery weather, but the Fundraising Team at Mary Stevens Hospice are urging local schools, business and community members to bring summer into their lives by joining in with  ‘Shorts and Shades’ Day on, Friday 21st June.
Day therapies patients at the Hospice are getting into the spirit of this by taking part every day this week, we have a sandpit set up in our conservatory and patients are enjoying a real seaside theme with fish n’  chip lunches and a traditional ice-cream van from Midlands Super Cream kindly coming along to serve dessert.
Vicki Rowles, Head of Fundraising at the Hospice said, “It is fabulous that our Day therapies patients are joining in and have a fun time with this. Most companies have occasional dress down Fridays to support a charity and it would be great to have the support of hundreds of businesses around Dudley Borough for this special Hospice Day, with their staff donating just £1 to wear their summer gear to work.
Schools can also get on board by holding a ‘Shorts and Shades’ or ‘Shorts and Caps’ Mufti Day and letters have gone out to over 100 schools inviting them to participate”.  Vicki added, “It would be great to receive photographs so that we could create a gallery for our website”.

Posters and further details of the event can be obtained by calling the Fundraising Team on 01384 377778 or email info@mshfundraising.co.uk

Mary Stevens Hospice depends on the generosity of the local community to help fund patient care with current running costs amounting to £2.3m.
