A GARDEN party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday in Stourbridge is set to be headlined by the true queen – Freddie Mercury.

Mary Stevens Hospice’s event this Sunday (June 12), will see Freddie tribute act Johnny Will joined by the Got2Sing choir and vintage vocalist Vanessa Lee.

As well as the live entertainment throughout the day, there will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, refreshments stalls, games and many activities for the whole family.

Amanda Bowen, the hospice’s community engagement officer, said: “Well obviously it’s a huge coup for us to be joined by Freddie and we’re just so grateful to him for taking the time out of his busy schedule to join us.

“Freddie, Vanessa and Got2Sing are all such fantastic entertainers, and we just hope that Her Majesty is pleased with the lengths we've gone to, to help her enjoy her special day.

“We’re pulling out all the stops and we can’t wait for the day now.”

Freddie Mercury, aka Johnny Will, said: “It’s a fantastic cause and I was delighted when they asked me to perform.

“Obviously it can be difficult to attend these sorts of events when you’re one of the greatest rock stars of all time, but when the hospice came calling I knew I had to clear my schedule and make sure I was available.

“To everyone coming along on the day: get ready for a show to remember, darlings.”

Tickets for the Hagley Road event, taking place between 11am and 4pm, cost £5 for adults and free for under 16s.
