PARENTS across the borough are being urged to take up the offer of free childcare places for eligible two-year-olds.

The government currently funds childcare for children who meet certain criteria and Dudley Council’s Time for Twos team is currently assessing applicants.

People who receive certain benefits, have an income less than £16,190 per year, or have a child with a disability or special educational need, may be eligible.

Tony Oakman, strategic director for people, said: “It is important that families don’t miss out on this offer of free childcare. If their children are eligible then I would encourage parents to get in touch with the Time for Twos team.

“Getting an early start in learning can help children with their development and communication skills ready for when they start school.”

The offer of up to 15 hours of free childcare every week could be used at a local private nursery, pre-school or with a childminder.
