Children aged three and four can take part in swimming courses at Halesowen Leisure Centre.

Staff at the Dudley Council facility are offering two identical courses, which consist of five 30-minute sessions, on Monday and Thursday mornings.

Running from the middle of April to the end of May, they help people to improve their swimming and gain water confidence through a series of informal games and activities.

A qualified ASA swimming instructor leads all classes and parents are asked to stay and watch the lesson from the side of the pool. Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “These swimming classes offer parents the perfect opportunity to introduce their child to the water.

“We are working our way towards being a healthy borough and getting youngsters into swimming is one of the many ways in which we’re helping families to become more active.”

The courses cost £23 per child with a 50 per cent discount available for Options + card holders. Customers are advised to book early, as swimming courses are very popular.
