A COLLECTION of historical letters, wills and poems based on events in Bewdley between 1447 and 1485 has been published in the town.

The book, entitled Bewdley under the White Rose, is the result of a project funded by the town’s Civic Society and carried out in Bewdley High School and Sixth Form.

Last year, with the help of teachers Rebecca Newbold and Alison Shiels, and local author Heather Flack, 31 year 7 pupils researched the history of the town during the turbulent period of the Wars of the Roses.

Barbara Longmore of the civic society and Suzanne Duffield from Bewdley Museum were on hand to help out the students, who also took part in a two day art and research workshop.

Taking its title from the period of Yorkist possession, the book by Fenella Flack and B. S. Severn, the pen-names of Heather Flack and the Bewdley pupils, is on sale for £6.50.

It is available from Bewdley Tourist Information Centre and at Bewdley Library.
