CCTV images have been released in the hunt for a man who inappropriately touched a woman on a train travelling between Cheltenham and Malvern.

British Transport Police have released the images in an appeal to trace the man, who boarded the train at Cheltenham Spa at 5.52pm on Monday, November 24.

Investigating officer PC Ben Smith said, although there were many free seats, the man chose to sit next to a 20-year-old woman who had earlier boarded the train at Bristol Temple Meads.

“During the course of the journey the man persistently asked the victim questions, despite her ignoring him,” he said.

“He then began touching her inappropriately on her leg.”

PC Smith said it was believed the man got off the train at Malvern and it was believed it was from the town and may also have links to Cheltenham.

Police would also like to hear from another male passenger who witnessed the incident and asked the woman if she was ok when the train arrived at Worcester Foregate Street.

Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or via text on 61016 quoting reference GSUB/B2 of November 24 2014.
