A HIGHLY successful Worcestershire composer has contributed to this year’s festive TV offerings – by writing the theme music for Michael McIntyre’s Very Christmassy Christmas Show.

Paul Farrer, of Malvern, who has composed music for The Weakest Link, Dancing On Ice, The Royal Variety Show and Gladiators to name but a few of his commissions, wrote the music for the comedy star’s primetime programme.

The show, which will be “packed with audience interaction, studio games, un-missable comedy VTs and hilarious hidden camera stunts” according to the BBC, airs at 10.40pm on BBC One on Christmas Day.

Mr Farrer said: “It was an honour to be asked to work on such a show.

“It was a big responsibility and I wanted to get it right.

“When something is on BBC One it is special and it means something, but when it is on Christmas Day it is doubly special.

“Writing the composition was great fun and everyone seemed very happy.”

He added the theme, with big brass sounds and bells, has a very festive and showbiz feel and is “like Michael McIntrye himself - very fun and jolly”.
