ST John Ambulance is offering one last chance to join its “heroic” team of runners who will be taking part in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon.

The charity is on the hunt for runners willing to fundraise on its behalf - but time is running out as the deadline to join the St John Ambulance fundraising team is Saturday (31 January).

Sabina Pasokhy, fundraising events manager, said: “We’d love to hear from any runners who failed to secure a place in the ballot or from those who have a place but haven’t yet chosen a charity to support.

“Our first aiders help thousands of runners cross the finish line each year. Fundraising for us is a great way for runners to take part in one of the world’s greatest public sporting events while supporting the work of volunteers who help to keep everyone safe on the day.”

Nearly 200 runners from all over the country will be taking part in the big event on April 26 as part of the St John Ambulance fundraising team.

The money raised from their efforts will be used to support the charity’s mission to equip as many people as possible with life saving first aid skills.

All runners fundraising for St John Ambulance are supported by a dedicated marathon co-ordinator in the lead-up to the event and will receive a running vest, advice on nutrition and fundraising tips.

On race day they will be boosted by an official St John Ambulance cheering point and will be VIP guests at a special post-race reception at the Carlton House Terrace with treats including a much needed massage.
