IT was a “lovely occasion” for the village of Upton Snodsbury as a woman celebrated her 102nd birthday.
Stella Price, who lived in the village for about 50 years before moving to a care home in Worcester last year, toasted the remarkable milestone with friends and family yesterday (Thursday, February 26)
A party was held in the village hall and a group of schoolchildren even attended to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the centenarian.
John Gardner, who helped to organise the celebration, said: “Mrs Price was over-the-moon with everything we had done for her.
“It was a lovely occasion - lots of people turned up and there was a great spread put on for everyone.
“Mrs Price really enjoyed it and was so pleased to see all her friends.
Members of the Thursday club – a weekly social group for elderly people in Upton Snodsbury which Mrs Price used to attend – were present to pass on their congratulations to the birthday girl.
Mr Gardner added: “The reason we put on the party in Upton Snodsbury is so that Mrs Price’s old friends from the village could come.
“She is a very well known character in the village and has been sorely missed since she moved into the care home.”
