A UKIP MEP has vowed not to be deterred by an attack which caused extensive damage to the party’s Kidderminster offices.

Vandals smashed windows and daubed paint all over the front of James Carver’s constituency office, in Coventry Street, during the incident which occurred at around 12.30am on March 7.

The front door was also damaged during the attack and police are now going through CCTV footage and an investigation is ongoing.

Mr Carver, who is a West Midlands MEP and standing in the General Election in Stourbridge, believe the attack is politically motivated.

But he has also thanked local people for the goodwill that they have shown since the incident took place.

Mr Carver, who lives in Worcestershire, said: “I'm humbled by the support and kind wishes that I have received from members of the public.

“Officers from West Mercia Police are currently investigating the attack on my office. I would like to thank them for their professionalism.

"This politically motivated attack will not affect the positive work of my team and I, which underlines the unprecedented rise of UKIP, not least in Wyre Forest, where we have the real prospect of electing Michael Wrench as a UKIP Member of Parliament on May 7."

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or who has any information that can help with the investigation, to call 101 quoting incident number 124s of 7th March 2015.
