BRIGHT sparks with ideas for social enterprise in Sandwell can apply for awards up to £5,000 to get their business off the ground.

The awards are available for people who want to transform their community with innovative business ideas that tackle important social issues.

The Sandwell Entrepreneur Programme is backed by national charity UnLtd, Sweda (Skills Work Enterprise Development Agency) and Sandwell Council.

UnLtd is running two schemes, one providing funds up to £500 called the Try It Award which people can apply for so they can try out their idea on a small scale.

The Sandwell Social Entrepreneur Programme Do It Award provides funds up to £5,000 to help people take their business plan further.

Paul Squires, from UnLtd, said: “We are looking for people who are passionate about improving their community and gaining skills for themselves. If you have a great idea to tackle an important social issue in Sandwell we’d like to hear from you.”
