STAFF and pupils at a Bromsgrove school have been celebrating after receiving another 'good' rating following its latest inspection.

Ofsted inspectors visited Fairfield First School on March 11 and 12.

Inspectors observed lessons at the Stourbridge Road-based school and met with staff, governors and children.

In their report the inspectors said the headteacher's positive approach to the school's development and improvement had created a vibrant and stimulating ethos for learning.

Inspectors praised pupils behaviour as outstanding, said they found parents are positive about the school and would "enthusiastically recommend it to others", and judged that teachers had high expectations and an excellent relationships with pupils.

In the report inspectors said: "Pupils’ behaviour is outstanding because they have exemplary attitudes to their learning.

"They are respectful and caring towards each other, and confident that adults will keep them safe at all times. The provision for their care and safety is also exemplary."

Early years provision was judged to be outstanding in the school as youngsters learn quickly and confidently because of the teaching.

Inspectors suggested where the school could improve to become outstanding, including the school's development plan is not specific enough in setting targets, and teachers needed to always set challenging work for pupils of all abilities.

Scott Smith, the school's headteacher, said: "We are all very proud of the judgements made during our recent Ofsted inspection as it goes someway to prove what we already knew.

"Importantly it provides recognition for our hard working and inspirational staff, dedicated governing body, supportive parents but most of all for the enthusiasm, attitude and outstanding behaviour of our children.

"We work hard to ensure our children have the best possible start to their education, by using our immediate environment and by making links with our local community and beyond to ensure we deliver a curriculum that matches the needs and interests of our children.

"To receive areas of outstanding shows that, as a school we are all moving in the right direction."
