A GROUP of GCSE students had an ice time during a Geography field trip to northern Europe.
The 20 youngsters from the Hereford Academy visited Iceland to take a closer look at volcanoes - a topic they had been studying in class.
The students visited the area affected by the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull which brought down thousands of flights across Europe for about a week.
They also stopped off at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO site where students witnessed the effects of two tectonic plates moving apart.
Other highlights included the group experiencing a unique landscape of waterfalls and glaciers.
