EVESHAM market square was filled with young people as Scouts and Guides celebrated St George’s Day.

The parade along High Street on Sunday (April 26) featured about 300 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Leaders.

It was followed by an open air service in front of the town hall, with youngsters enjoying a variety of games based on the service’s compass theme.

The music for the afternoon was provided by the Celebration Reed and Brass Band and musicians from All Saints Church, while Reverend Andrew Spurr took the lead for the service and prayers.

Ann Clark, deputy county commissioner for Hereford and Worcester Scout county, presented a number of adult volunteers with long service awards.

One leader received the Wood Badge, which confirms the individual has completed the training for their role in scouting.

A collection taken during the service raised £198.65 and will be donated to the Evesham Bell Tower Appeal.

The scouts are "particularly pleased" to support the appeal, as all members wear the Evesham District badge on their uniform which depicts the iconic Abbey Bell Tower.
