THE annual sportsmans dinner held by Shipston Rugby Club has raised more than £900 for Shipston Home Nursing charity.

The dinner, held on March 6 at the Townsend Hall, enjoyed the company of Gareth Chilcott who entertained the 210 guests with his amusing tales from his Rugby days playing for Bath and England.

The annual event has now raised more than £10,000 to help good causes within the town. Beneficiaries have included the Shipston Youth Club, The Friends of the Hospital, First Responders, Shipston Home Nursing, DASH (drugs awareness Shipston) and this year The Toti Warboys cancer fund. Nick Warboys told the club that they had already achieved a remarkable £90,000 toward £100,000 target they had set themselves to raise since they had lost their son to leukaemia. He went on to say that the £600 from the club would help to reach their target.

Shipston Home Nursing fundraiser Rebecca Mawle received the cheque from at the club at their fun day.

"The money we receive from the club is very much appreciated and helps us to meet our annual fundraising targets," she said.
