AN articulated lorry driver must have bitterly regretted turning from the Worcester Road into narrow Knapp Lane, on the way towards Ledbury town centre.

It is impossible to make the turn into the Homend with such as large vehicle, and the only option for the driver was to reverse, back into a side road and attempt to get back to the Worcester Road.

The driver was stuck in the lane for around 15 minutes, allowing local resident, Martin Dudley, time to snap a remarkable image.

The weight restriction, stated at the Knapp Lane junction, off the Worcester Road, is for 7.5t, except for access.

There has been speculation on social media, after Mr Dudley posted his picture, that the driver could not have been local, after making the decision to take his 44t articulated lorry down the quiet lane.

But there has also praise for the driver, who managed to get back to the Worcester Road without causing any damage at all.

Mr Dudley said: I just happened across this at 7.15am on a Friday morning recently . The driver kept getting in and out of his cab and looking quizzingly at the rear of his trailer; it was clear to see that the length of the vehicle meant that either a right or left turn was impossible to make. Cars were beginning to pull up behind him as they drove down Knapp Lane, eventually they had to reverse out of the way, allowing the HGV driver to reverse up the hill and presumably into Knapp Close.

"This would have allowing him to turn around and make his way back to the Worcester Road - I am guessing it was about 15 minutes time in total and clearly a 'Satnav' direction, though how common sense and road signs did not alert the driver remain a mystery."
