A COMMUNITY event in Worcester that provided fresh air and fun for all the family has been hailed as a great success.

St Peter’s Festival took place on Sunday (June 28) at Power Park in St Peter’s and more than 700 people attended.

The fun day, which featured an array of activities from dog shows to zumba dancing and football matches to live music, received positive feedback from local residents - and enthusiasm for a repeat event next year is now sky high.

Councillor Brenda Wheeler, of St Peter’s Parish Council, who organised the fun day, said: “There was a real community feel to the event and it seemed to go very well.

“We received some great comments from members of the public on the day and a lot of people turned out to enjoy the fun.

“There was a lot going on – the dog show went down a storm, for example – and everyone got on really well.”

Councillor Paul Thorlby, chairman of St Peter’s Parish Council, praised his fellow councillors for putting on the fun day during a meeting on Monday (June 29).

He said: “I turned up for a couple of hours and I thought it was a really impressive event, which is testament to Brenda and others who have worked hard to make it happen.

“The most satisfying thing was seeing so many people from the area out and enjoying a community event.”
