THE ever-popular Salt Fest will return to Droitwich for the tenth year running later this month.

The three day event will start at 6pm on Friday, September 11 and include model cars powered by salt, a Roman camp and a dog show along with live music, a food fayre and real ale bar in Vines Park.

Droitwich Mayor Cllr Graham Beale and Wychavon District Council chairman Cllr Val Wood will kick off the main programme of events at 10.30am on Saturday, September 12 with a parade through the town led by the Droitwich Air Cadets Band.

Other events and attractions held throughout the weekend will include a chance to learn about the history of salt in the town, readings by Droitwich poet Sarah James and art exhibitions as well as a farmer’s and craft market in St Andrew’s Street and the High Street and a dog show on Sunday in aid of Danemere Animal Rescue and Bishops Wood Swan Rescue.

Droitwich Spa business partnerships manager for Wychavon District Council Janet Yates said: “It’s great Salt Fest is still such a popular event after this number of years and is very much a feature of the town with the number of community groups and businesses who get involved to organise activities and showcase what we have to offer.”
