AN INQUEST has been opened into a Halesowen pensioner who was found at the bottom of a Kidderminster gym’s swimming pool.
Raymond Short, of Blackberry Lane, Halesowen, was discovered in the pool at DW Sports and Fitness Centre in Weaver’s Wharf, Kidderminster on August 25.
The 79-year-old was rushed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where he was declared dead.
The initial medical cause of death given is drowning and heart disease and the inquest was adjourned until a later date.
A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: “Police were called to a leisure centre in Weavers Wharf, Kidderminster, at 11.45am on Tuesday, August 25, following the sudden death of a 79-year-old man.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
