IN an effort to prove most men can sing, the Kidderminster Male Choir will be holding a recruitment open day this month.

The choir will hold the open day at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, February 27, between 10am and 2pm.

A spokesman for the choir said: “It is surprising how many people, particularly men, think they can’t sing or are intimidated by the thought of performing on a stage.

“The intention of the open day is to invite anyone who would like to have a go to come along and enjoy themselves in a no pressure environment.

“This will not be a day of auditions in the normal sense, although KMC is looking to add more choristers to its ranks.

“Like most organisations we have to recruit new members from time to time and we felt this was the best way to promote the choir and make it a fun day as well. We are not looking to find next Pavarotti, just males of all ages who would like to express themselves through song.

“Singing with a group of blokes is great fun and, of course, there is always the after show and rehearsal get together in a local hostelry.”

Last year saw one of the busiest years for the Kidderminster Male Choir in its long history with many concerts performed at a variety of venues throughout Worcestershire and the UK.

The year culminated in the Viscount Cobham of Hagley Hall becoming the choir’s new patron.
