A TOP training company has moved to bigger headquarters in Redditch, taking on an extra member of staff and hoping to recruit more soon.

Ubi-Tech, which has transferred its offices from Sambourne, near Studley, to Regents Court in Far Moor Lane, Redditch, welcomed two MPs, including an adviser to the Prime Minister, for its official opening.

The company is a specialist provider of engineering and training services to the telecommunications industry, running courses in wireless and radio engineering, fourth generation networks, IT and project management.

It is a preferred supplier to the Ministry of Defence, providing resettlement training courses for people who are due to leave the armed forces.

Its programmes are accredited by the Universtiy of Wolverhampton and people who successfully complete a set of three courses are awarded a postgraduate certificate in wireless communications.

Redditch MP Karen Lumley attended the opening, which was conducted by Nadhim Zahawi, MP for neighbouring Stratford-on-Avon, in his capacity as the Prime Minister's adviser on apprentices and joint chairman of the Apprenticeship Delivery Board.

Mrs Lumley said: “This is just the kind of facility we need in Redditch to give youngsters the start in life they need.

“I was told that the average wage of those who complete courses at the centre and then move into the industry is expected to be £30,000 - £40,000, which is fantastic.”

Ubi-Tech programme manager Phil Wells said: "We have moved from Sambourne to larger premises in Redditch because there was pressure for us to get much bigger.

"It's a sturdy, resilient market with a constant level of strong demand and we take students from all over the UK, who come to us for training.

"We have taken on one more member of staff already and we should soon be looking to recruit one or two more."

Mr Wells added that the attendance of the two MPs at the office opening had made it a "very special day" and that Mr Zahawi had been invited to perform the ceremony because he had been the firm's MP in Sambourne, as well as holding a high level government position.
