KIND members of Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club will be teeing off for a huge event to support a cancer charity.

Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club has teamed up with Dudley-based Mark Greenfield of MG Shopfronts, for the annual Charity Golf Day on September 23 to provide Teenage Cancer Trust with the opportunity to raise much needed funds.

The day will consist of coffee and bacon roll on arrival 18 holes of golf, lunch on course and an evening buffet meal, were the presentations will take place.

Prizes worth around 1,000 will be available for the first five teams, there will be a beat the pro and longest drive competition.

The day is supported by Benham BMW of Wolverhampton who are arranging the use of, either an I8 or 7 Series for a weekend as part of the day plus, a tuck shop halfway round.

Event organiser David Coleman said: “This is the first year that this event will have been held at Cleobury.

"I have previously held the event at Astbury but was delighted to secure Cleobury this time round, the day has become a must play event attracting teams from London and Switzerland as well as the Midlands."

A golf club spokesman said: “We are delighted to host this event in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and, want to thank Mark Greenfield of MG Shopfronts for his generosity in becoming the main sponsor. Mark is a member and recommended us to the event organiser.

Lottie Kendall, from the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Seven young people aged 13-24, are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

“Teenage Cancer Trust are dedicated to supporting these young people by building specialist units and providing specialist staff.

“At the moment for every young person we can reach, there is another we can’t. We rely solely on donations and that is why events like this year’s golf day are so important to us.

“We are so grateful at Teenage Cancer Trust to have long standing, dedicated supporters like David Coleman. We would also like to thank this year’s sponsor Mark Greenfield for his generosity. I’m sure the day will be a great success.”
