MORE than 100 "Old Bromsgrovians" from across the world returned to their former school this month for a 50 year reunion.

Ex-Bromsgrove School pupils, who left between 1960 and 1969, travelled from Wales, France and even New York to return to their hometown on Saturday, September 10.

The school's chapel choir performed a special anthem for guests during a welcome service, and memories were read out by the current heads of school.

Volunteer students gave the group a tour of the grounds, which included a stop at the chapel to look at old photographs and reminisce on their school days.

After lunch in the hospitality suite, visitors were invited to record their memories on film for the school's archive.

Mike Bird, a former pupil who attended the reunion, said: "I always enjoy coming back to the School but Saturday was very special. I am always amazed by the changes that have been made yet there is still a sense of continuity whenever I walk around.

"Being in the chapel seemed like a normal school day except my last one was over 55 years ago. I met people I hadn’t seen since that time and we had a wonderful time pointing out how things had changed and what they used to be like."
