ENTERPRISING youngsters from a Kidderminster school backed a bid to fund new equipment for their playground.

Pupils at Foley Park Community Primary held a cake sale during the last week of term to help raise money towards the appeal.

The Northumberland Avenue-based school needs to raise around £15,000 for the new equipment and more than £250 has already been raised in the past few weeks.

Prior to the cake sale, Foley Fish Bar and Tesco Express – on Stourport Road – backed the Friends of Foley Park’s bingo night.

For the latest initiative, cakes and biscuits were donated and baked by their parents while The Subway sandwich shop on Stourport Road baked cookies for the sale.

Manager Mohammed Kamal said: “Some of the parents are regular customers and they were very persuasive. We were only too pleased to help out with a local project.”

Rebecca Archer, Chairperson for the friends group said: “We work hard thinking of new, fun events to put on for children and parents alike. We are very lucky to have such supportive local businesses and all contributions are gratefully received.

“We would also like to thank parents too for their help in raising funds to improve our children’s school environment.”

She added more fundraising events are planned which will see the school working closely with the community.
